What it is
A curated app store on Kubernetes you don't have to operate.
White Iron Cloud runs a hardened multi-tenant Kubernetes cluster on bare-metal Talos Linux in our facility. On top of it, we run a curated catalog of the applications small businesses actually need — Postgres, object storage, container hosting, Nextcloud, Mattermost, GitLab, n8n, and growing — each one provisioned, patched, backed up, and monitored by us.
You log in, pick what you need, and use it. We do the infrastructure work. The bill is metered, itemized, and predictable. If you ever want to leave, every workload exports to standard formats and runs anywhere.
Why this exists
The hyperscaler escape hatch most cloud platforms don't actually give you.
-
Bare-metal economics, managed-service ergonomics.
Most "managed Kubernetes" runs on top of someone else's hyperscaler, which means you pay the AWS markup plus the management markup. We run on iron we own, in a building we control. Our prices reflect that.
-
Transparent metered billing.
You see the same usage data we do. Per-resource itemization. No mystery line items, no "data transfer" black boxes, no charges that triple in the middle of a quarter.
-
Real escape hatches.
Every app on the catalog uses open-source software with standard data formats. Postgres dumps are Postgres dumps. Object storage is S3-API-compatible. Containers are containers. If you leave, you leave with everything.
-
Human support.
You call a phone number and reach an engineer who knows your setup. Not a tier-1 script, not a ticket queue, not a chatbot. Limited customer base means you're not a row in a CRM.
Who it's for
Small businesses that need cloud apps but not Big Cloud.
Good fit
- 5–50 employees needing collaborative tools, file storage, and internal apps
- Practices and firms tired of cobbling SaaS subscriptions together
- Engineering teams wanting Postgres, container hosting, CI without managing it
- Businesses with compliance constraints that favor known infrastructure
- Anyone whose AWS bill has surprised them in the last 12 months
Not a fit
- Workloads that require global edge presence (we're regional)
- Anything needing sub-10ms latency from arbitrary geographies
- Web-scale or hyperscale needs — call AWS
- One-off science experiments at $5/month that nobody'll maintain
